Short version. One link per partner or placement, a reward per counted paid activation, a budget you lock, and a live view both sides read.
Partners, consultants and the trial that becomes a paid seat
Software is recommended by consultants who implement it, by creators who make tutorials, and by customers who are asked 'what do you use?'. Enterprise partner programmes exist to reward this; for a small or mid-sized product they are too heavy. A referral campaign with a link per partner and a reward per paid activation gives the same outcome in an afternoon.
Software has another referral channel most companies ignore: their own customers. A link in the product's settings page, a reward per activated referral, and the wallet does the rest. It sits in the same campaign as consultants and creators, so the company sees which of the three actually brings paying teams.
Setting up for a product with a trial
The sign-up page is the landing page. The snippet counts the trial sign-up; one call from your billing system reports the paid activation. Reward the activation, and show the trial count as a leading indicator. Partners and creators each get a link; your own newsletter and LinkedIn posts get one too, so your organic channels sit next to your partners on the same screen.
Rewards for subscription businesses
A fixed reward per paid activation is simplest: ₹400 to a few thousand rupees depending on plan value, plus 15%, from the budget you locked. If you prefer to think in months of revenue, set the reward at whatever fraction of first-year value you are comfortable paying once. The subscription for funded campaigns is ₹4,999 + GST a year; tracking is free.
What partners see
Their own opens by platform and city, trials started, activations counted, and a wallet that grows on activation. A consultant who recommends you to five clients sees exactly which client's team signed up and when, which is more than most partner portals show.
Because the trial and the activation are counted separately, partners can see their own conversion rate. A consultant with a high trial-to-paid rate is a consultant whose recommendations are trusted, and that is worth a higher reward or a private campaign — which you can invite them to directly.
Churn and reversals
If an activation is refunded within your refund window, reverse the result; the reward returns to the budget with the reason visible. Beyond the window, treat it as a cost of doing business, as you would with any sales commission.
